What is a swim spa?
As it sounds, a swim spa is a self-contained unit in which you can swim and also enjoy hydrotherapy. Swim spas also offer a challenging aquatic fitness element, making them an excellence choice for workouts, play, and relaxation.
A swim spa is generally larger than a traditional portable hot tub. One end is dedicated to fitness and the other end is for hydrotherapy. Swim spas are ideal for families, athletes, and those seeking entertainment and hydrotherapy. Because swim spas are temperature-controlled, they are great for all-season use.
Jacuzzi® Swim Spas are designed to create the ideal conditions for your best swim experience. The powerfully controlled current creates a high-volume stream of water that allows you to swim in place without having to adjust your stroke. The power of the current is customizable so you can adjust your workout to be as challenging as you like.
The balanced swim jets of Jacuzzi® Swim Spas deliver a wide and smooth current that keeps you steadily in your swim lane. The SteadySwim® buoyancy jets keep you perfectly elevated in your swim current so you can focus on your technique and breathing.
In addition to a high-performance, turn-free aquatic workout, the central area of the swim spa is ideal for water fun, games, and entertainment. The opposite end features jetted seating for an unparalleled hydrotherapy session. Jacuzzi® Swim Spas are also the only swim spas that feature innovative Infrared (IR) and Red Light therapy, taking your relaxation, recovery, and rejuvenation session to the next level.
What is infrared and what does infrared light do?
Infrared is actually a light that cannot be seen, rather it is felt in the form of heat. Infrared light, or waves, are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The Jacuzzi® brand has been using Infrared in its wellness products for some time, starting with IR saunas.
After realizing the wide array of benefits users were experiencing in the sauna application, the Jacuzzi® team then decided to do more research on how those same benefits could be gained through Infrared and Red Light therapy in an underwater application, such as hot tubs and swim spas.
The Jacuzzi® team partnered with a PhD at the Cleveland Clinic to develop a white paper on the technology and benefits of Infrared. They then worked with an experienced development partner to identify how to develop this for their hot tubs and swim spas. Once identified, the Jacuzzi® brand introduced Infrared and Red Light therapy into their select spas is now available in a variety of Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs and Swim Spas.
One of the best benefits of Infrared and Red Light therapy is its particular effectiveness in targeting lower back pain. Since millions of people around the world suffer from lower back pain, this is a key issue that IR and Red Light therapy addresses.
The Jacuzzi® FX therapy seat is designed to focus precisely on the lower back region. The application of Near Infrared (NIR) is delivered to the lower back muscles, promoting healing through the consistent use of this therapy. NIR waves in the jetted seats target your lower back to penetrate below the skin, reaching deeper muscle tissue in that area.
Simultaneously, deep Red Light reaches surface tissue and cells to deliver a feeling of regeneration long after your hydrotherapy session is done. Ultimately, Infrared and Red Light therapy work in tandem deep below your skin’s surface to help ease pain and improve your range of motion—all while leaving you relaxed, refreshed, and reenergized.
