SURPRISING WAYS HOT TUBS CAN CONSERVE ENERGY THAT YOU MIGHT NOT REALIZE, PART 1

When you’re debating on whether to invest in a hot tub, a primary concern may be its impact on your electric bill. Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs are designed for energy efficiency, and a number of options are available to make your spa even more economical when it comes to power usage. As a reference, the California Energy Commission (CEC) requires a device to meet specific energy output regulations to be classified as “energy efficient.” All Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs meet these standards. In this two-part blog, we’ll explore some of the ways your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub can be cost effective, beyond being highly energy efficient:

COLD-CLIMATE INSULATION
This insulation is perfect for chilly weather and cold climates. It is layered onto the back of the spa’s cabinetry and reduces energy usage by adding another layer of insulation. This extra insulation keeps the temperature steady, so you won’t need to adjust the heat constantly and burn up energy. This insulation also protects against mold and eases operating noise.

ENERGY-EFFICIENT SETTINGS
All Jacuzzi® Hot Tub models give you some level of control over their operation, some more than others. For example, the J-1000 control panel allows you to program your filtration and heating cycles based on your average usage. Once you determine how and when you most often use your hot tub, program the sequence. You will avoid using excess energy to heat the hot tub when it’s not in use, yet it will be prepped when you’re ready to use it.

HEAT-CONSERVING COVERS
Drastically reduce energy consumption by installing a cover for your hot tub. Jacuzzi offers a number of options; the Sunbrella® in particular includes two pounds of foam density, as well as heat-seal gaskets. This creates an excellent seal that minimizes heat and moisture loss, decreasing the need to turn up the heater or refill the hot tub.

You now have an idea of just a few of the energy-saving options available in and for Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs. In our next blog, we’ll address additional ways you can save you money on your electric bill.
