Jacuzzi Elevates Robert Rowan to President, North America
CHINO HILLS, Calif., January 19, 2010: Jacuzzi Group Worldwide President & CEO Tom Koos has announced that Robert I. Rowan will expand his leadership role at the company to include the top post of the hot tub business unit. The move follows the decision of the current President and CEO of Jacuzzi’s spa business unit (Jacuzzi Spas International), Jonathan Clark, to pursue a new business opportunity outside of the industry.
Rowan joined Jacuzzi in July, 2008 when he was appointed president of the North American Bath business unit, now known as Jacuzzi Luxury Bath. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at Black & Decker in senior executive roles leading progressively larger business units. Before his departure from Black & Decker, he was president of the firm’s Construction Power Tools business.
As president of the company’s North American-based bath and spa businesses, Rowan will be taking on Jacuzzi’s well established hot tubs group which manufactures and markets products globally under the Jacuzzi Hot Tubs and Sundance Spas brand names. Sold through a long-established independent dealer network of over 1,200 locations, the brands combine to form the largest manufacturer of portable acrylic hot tubs in the world.
“After more than 20 years with the great brands of Jacuzzi and Sundance, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave this wonderful company, to turn more of my attention to my family and to take my career in a new direction,” said Clark who will be joining a smaller, privately-held company in the financial services industry. “I will miss the tremendous relationships I’ve made in the company, with our incredible dealers and throughout the industry.”
Looking forward, Koos, who is president and CEO of parent company Jacuzzi Group Worldwide adds, “As a leader who is accustomed to working with complex businesses with multiple lines, Bob Rowan is well suited to this new role. He is well known within the organization and backed by a senior leadership team within the spa business unit that possesses an average 16 year tenure with the company. The transition should be seamless. We extend our sincere appreciation to Jonathan for his service and wish him well in his new business venture.”
Rowan notes, “Since joining the company last summer, I’ve been impressed with the Spa Division’s attention to quality and passion for customer service. I am looking forward to working with the remarkable family of Jacuzzi and Sundance dealers to support them in their efforts and to continue the positive momentum generated over the past decade. The accomplishments of these two brands are impressive and I feel fortunate to be surrounded by a very capable team of veterans who are here to continue serving our valued customers. I thank Jonathan Clark for leaving an incredible legacy.”
