What is CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™?

Put simply, CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™ is a clean water system that's exclusive to Jacuzzi® and is designed to help keep your hot tub running efficiently. This helps prevent the build up of contaminants and pathogens in the water.



It works in tandem with regular chemical testing, dosing and water changes. You shouldn’t use it on its own, but consider it that extra piece of protection that helps eliminate germs alongside necessary chemicals.

CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™ also works in the background to look and support the sanitation of your tub.

How does Clearray Active Oxygen work?

CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™ harnesses the power of air and light to work harder and clean the water longer. This is called the oxidation process and it destroys contaminants and waterborne pathogens.

-The system injects a low dose of Ozone into the hot tub water.

-Ozonated water passes by a UV-C bulb to treat 99.9% of waterborne pathogens just with natural power of light.

-The process of ozone and UV-C light triggers an oxidation process that releases active oxygen, reducing the dependency on chemicals and chlorine.

-The ozone is now improving water sanitiser efficiency and the now clean, activated water returns to the hot tub to continue the cleaning process, before the cycle begins again.

Can I buy CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™ for any hot tub?

Although this technology was originally developed by Jacuzzi® to be used exclusively for Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs, it is now available in Sundance® Spas too. Currently these are the only two brands with access to use it.

Other brands utilise their own systems to support their tubs. 

What is a Jacuzzi® CLEARRAY UV Bulb?

The Jacuzzi® CLEARRAY® UV bulb exposes UV light into the ozonated water to create active oxygen.

How much does the Jacuzzi® CLEARRAY® UV Bulb cost?

We recommend that you replace your CLEARRAY® UV bulb once a year. This ensures that you continue to gain the key benefits of this system - clean, clear water and reduced chemical usage.

Can Clearray Active Oxygen™ save me money?

There are two key benefits that you as a hot tub owner will receive from you using this system

1 - By reducing the chemical use by half, the water will be kinder to your skin. The fewer the chemicals, the fewer the chances for a reaction, or for irritation to happen.

It’s worth remembering that there is always a chance of this occurring, if you have sensitive skin. Reducing chemical usage because of CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™ can only be a good thing for you.

2 - If you’ are reducing the chemicals needed to keep the water clean by up to 50%. You will be reducing your bills by up to 50%. That’s a big saving in and amongst the current cost of living challenges.

Do I need to use chlorine if I’m using CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™?

Yes! As we outlined earlier in this article the CLEARRAY Active Oxygen™ technology has been designed to add another level of clean water protection to Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs.

It should be used as an additional treatment to chemicals like chlorine. Here’s a little reminder of the treatment cycle regarding chemicals like chlorine.

After each hot tub use

-Dip a test strip into the water.

We encourage you to follow the requirements on the packaging. This depends on the recommended dosage requirement for your hot tub. 

Weekly

-Shock the hot tub water by adding a dose of chlorine, or oxidiser/non-chlorine shock 

(This will instantly kill water-borne bacteria and contaminants that can cause cloudy water or odours.)

-Rinse filter weekly. 

Monthly

-Soak filters or use an instant cartridge cleaner. 

-Rinse and hose your filter.

-It’s recommended to have a second filter available to replace the filter in use during the cleaning process.

It's important to keep in mind that these treatments should be used as a guideline.

Frequency of use may require you to perform these procedures more often to keep your water safe.
