JACUZZI® JETTED BATH FREQUENLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHIRLPOOL BATHS - Pre-Purchase Questions & Answers

Q: How do I determine what size bath to purchase?
A: Generally, the size of the bathing area in the bathroom will determine whether a 5-foot, 6-foot or corner bath is selected. If space is not an issue then other factors can be considered. Most consumers' compare the features, performance, style, comfort and price of the various baths being evaluated.

Q: What is the difference between a right hand bath and a left hand bath?
A: When looking at a whirlpool bath you must establish the reference point, which is the suction cover. When standing directly in front of the bath the suction cover should be right beneath you. (The Fresco™ and Mito™ are exceptions to this rule. For these two units the suction cover will be across from you.) Having located the suction cover:
  • On an end-drain bath, the right hand or left hand designation refers to the location of the drain.
  • On an end-drain bath, the pump and motor location will be at the opposite end from the drain.
  • On a center-drain bath, the right hand or left hand designation refers to the pump and motor location.
  • An Authorized Jacuzzi Bath Dealer or Distributor can provide you with additional information for your particular application.

Q: How do I determine the proper water heater size for a new whirlpool bath?
A: A general rule of thumb is that the water heater should be two-thirds the size of the water capacity of the bath. For example, a 60-gallon bath would require a 40-gallon water heater. This rough formula does not take into consideration other demands that might be placed on the water heater. We recommend that a plumber be consulted for your particular application.

Q: What type of warranty is included with a Jacuzzi® whirlpool bath?
A: Our Comfort Collection baths have a 1-year warranty on the surface & equipment. Our Designer Collection baths have a 2-year warranty on the surface & equipment. A more detailed warranty explanation can be found in the respective Operating/Installation Instructions/Owner's Manual. (Limitations and exclusions are referenced in the manual.)

Q: Where can I find a particular whirlpool bath I am interested in on display?
A: Our designer showrooms, authorized bath dealers, and network of home center locations showcase various Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath models. It is recommended that you contact the resellers located near you to find out which models they have on display. In order to locate a reseller please visit our dealer locator.

Q: How do I find the model and serial number of my bath?
A: The model and serial number is located in three places:
  • On a label located on the back page of your Operating/Installation Instructions. (With the warranty information)
  • On a white label located on the bath vessel near the pump/motor.
  • On the shell under the suction cover. (Rectangular cover/filter inside of bath)

Q: When I push the Magic Touch® I hear a clicking sound. What is wrong?
A: If you hear a clicking sound when you push the Magic Touch, the ground fault circuit interrupter, (GFCI) may be tripped. This is most likely located at your breaker panel but can be located at the pump/motor plug. Reset the breaker. If the motor still will not turn on call your nearest Authorized Service Agent.

Q: When I push the Magic Touch® the bath does not operate. What is wrong?
A: Your Magic Touch switch is connected to the motor using flexible nylon tubing. Ensure that the tubing is connected to both the Magic Touch and the motor. If the motor still will not turn on call your nearest Authorized Service Agent.

Q: My electronic control system will not respond. Is there a simple diagnostic procedure I can try?
A: You can simply power down the system by either unplugging, or shutting off at the housebreaker panel. Power back up following these instructions:
  • Wait a minimum of 15 seconds then power back up.
  • Retry the system by activating the feature that was not previously responding.
  • If this does not resolve the issue, inspect the water level sensor located inside of the bath to be sure it is free of any soap or dirt build-up.
  • Check to be sure that the water level sensor is completely submerged in water. (The water level is above the sensor)
  • If that does not remedy the issue your water may lack the minerals necessary to detect the water level. If this condition exists add a tablespoon of salt to the water and circulate.
  • If there is still an issue, call your nearest Authorized Service Agent
  • .

Q: My Jacuzzi logo is cracked or damaged. Can I replace it? How do I remove the old logo and glue residue from the bath?
A: Call our Customer Service department for a replacement logo at 800-288-4002.
  • Please be prepared to provide the representative with the serial number of your bath.
  • Use a hair dryer to loosen the glue on the cracked or damaged logo.
  • Carefully remove the logo. Use a tool with a wood or plastic edge. Do not use metal tools, or hard objects, to scrape or pry it off, or you could scratch the surface.
  • The residual glue can be removed with paint thinner, turpentine, or isopropyl alcohol, (rubbing alcohol). It is recommended that you rinse off the surface with clean water after using any these cleaners.

Q: I understand that my bath has a heater installed on it. How does it work?
A: Be certain that your heater is connected to a dedicated 115 volt, 15 amp GFCI protected circuit. The heater turns on when a vacuum switch senses water flow through the heater and the internal thermostat automatically senses the need for heat. The thermostat is set at the maximum temperature. The heater is designed to maintain the water temperature, not increase it.

WHIRLPOOL BATHS - Use & Care Questions/Answers

Q: Can I use bath additives such as: bubble bath, bath salts, and bath oils?
A: Additives can be used to enhance your bathing experience.
  • Be careful when using bubble bath, as the increased agitation of a whirlpool bath will generate many times more bubbles than a conventional bath.
  • We recommend that you use non-oil based additives, as they will be easier to clean out of the bath. It is recommended that you purge the whirlpool system after every use when using bath additives. The use of certain bath oils, bubble baths and bath additives may increase the level of accumulations of bath residue in the whirlpool system.
  • If excess accumulations persist, you should discontinue use of these products. (Please see the answer to the following question for a complete explanation of the purging process)

Q: Is it necessary to clean the whirlpool system?
A: To remove accumulations of bath residue from the whirlpool system, it is recommended that a whirlpool bath be purged at least twice a month. For best results, however, we recommend that you purge your whirlpool bath after each use using our exclusive two-part plumbing system cleaner made specifically for whirlpool baths. Systems Clean™ is available through an authorized Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath Distributor or by calling us direct at 1-800-288-4002.
  • Instructions for use: Immediately after bathing and exiting the whirlpool bath, leave the bath water in the tub and add hot water, if necessary, so the water is at least 2" above the highest jet.
  • Turn on the unit without the aerator. Pour the contents of the Systems Clean Packet 1 (taking care not to get the material on yourself) into the bath near the intake for the circulation pump.
  • Repeat same process with Systems Clean Packet 2. It is important to use Packet 1 before Packet 2 to avoid a strong odor. Run the bath for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain completely and rinse any residue.

If you have followed the standard purging instructions above and still have an excess accumulation of bath residue:
  • We recommend SUPER SYSTEMS CLEAN PLUS manufactured by Stearns Packaging to rectify this condition. This may be obtained by contacting us at 1-800-288-4002. It is recommended that you follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer with the product. Repeated use may be necessary. SUPER SYSTEMS CLEAN PLUS does not replace the necessity to regularly purge your whirlpool system with Systems Clean as recommended.

Q: Which cleaning product/s does Jacuzzi recommend that I use to clean the acrylic surface of my bath?
A: In most cases, your bath can be cleaned using liquid soap and a soft cloth. If a stronger cleanser is needed, check the label to ensure that it is safe for use on acrylic surfaces.

Q: What can be done about the minor scuffs and scratches that I noticed after my bath was installed?
A: Your product is manufactured with a tough, durable acrylic surface. Minor scratches can be removed by wet sanding the area with 600 grit sand paper. Restore the gloss using a product called Meguires #10 Mirror Glaze or automotive paste wax. You may refer the service to one of our Authorized Finish Contractors.

Q: How do I remove the protective labels, or glue residue from the labels, from the acrylic surface of my bath?
A: Glue, paint, tar, or other difficult stains can be removed with paint thinner, turpentine, or isopropyl alcohol, (rubbing alcohol). It is recommended that you rinse off the surface with clean water after using any of these cleaners.
