Making the Most Out of Small Spaces

Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs deliver top-of-the-line hydromassage with stylish designs that are perfect for any size backyard. City dwellers and others with modest space will find that the best small hot tubs offer plenty of room and still provide first-class amenities. Jacuzzi® Brand 2-person hot tubs are ideal for small spaces, and with a little creativity, even a cozy nook can be transformed into a personal oasis.

Use the Existing Landscape

If you have an existing patio or deck, this is the perfect spot for your hot tub. Just make sure the area is completely level and your hot tub has the proper foundation. If your yard has an incline, create a terraced garden with the hot tub as the centerpiece. Carve out a flat area, add a retaining wall, and let the hillside provide that secluded feeling. Wherever you place your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub, remember to leave room for access to your hot tub’s internal components, like the CLEARRAY® bulb.

Soften the Boundaries

Tall fences and shrubbery can make a small space feel closed in, calling attention to your property’s borders. Use trees or potted plants instead of fencing to create a more inviting atmosphere. If you prefer fencing, consider using a shorter barrier so that you can see the tops of your neighbor’s trees and flowers. Then plant similar colors in your yard, which can “blur the lines” and make their property seem like an extension of your own. If you already have a tall fence, cover it with vines so it blends into the landscape and gives your yard a spacious feel.

Decorate With Plants

Even when you only have a deck or patio to work with, you can still enjoy the soothing sight of flowers. Hang boxes from windows or patio railings and plant cascading blooms to add beauty and ambiance. Flowers like bidens and calibrachoa provide a happy pop of color when in season, or try hardier plants like golden creeping Jenny or bergenia for year-round decoration.

Create a Screen for Privacy

Sometimes, you may want to have total privacy rather than opening up your space and making it appear larger. City residents and those with small lots can create a sense of seclusion and avoid prying eyes by hanging sheer fabric, using tall, potted plants, or putting up a folding screen.

You don’t need an expansive yard to create a sense of spaciousness and a relaxing, inviting mood for your small or portable hot tub. First, talk to your Jacuzzi® Dealership to find the best small hot tubs for sale. Then use our tips and get creative.

FAQ: How Much Do Hot Tubs Cost?

One of the most common questions we get is “How much does a Jacuzzi® Hot Tub cost?” However, hot tub prices may not be as straightforward as you think. Prices are set based on your local market, and of course the model and options you choose. Plus, thanks to financing options, payments can vary as well. Read on for answers to some common questions that can help you get started on your search.

Why doesn’t Jacuzzi® Brand list prices on the website?

The cost of a hot tub can vary depending on the region or city you live in, because pricing is always based on the local market. Even within the same region, hot tub prices fluctuate due to an individual dealer’s current promotions or sales. Dealers may also offer different financing options, and each customer’s payments will vary based on their credit.

What are some signs of quality I should look for, regardless of price range?

To determine if you are getting a quality hot tub, there are a few important criteria to consider. Long-lasting materials, like an acrylic shell and a well-built frame, ensures your hot tub will operate at optimal levels for years to come. Buying from an established brand, like Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs, is also crucial. Established brands will have a proven history of solid manufacturing and provide great warranties. Finally, consider the cost of ownership; you’ll want quality parts and design so that you spend less over the long run on wear and tear.

What promotions and financing options are available?

Your local Jacuzzi® Dealership may run special promotions from time to time, such as seasonal sales, instant rebates, and special financing options. These vary by dealership and time of year. Keep in mind that financing is based on your credit rating, so monthly payments will vary from person to person. Visit your local dealer to talk to an expert about their upcoming promotions and financing options.

Why should I talk to a Jacuzzi® Brand expert?

Financing and promotions aren’t the only way to get the best price on a Jacuzzi® Hot Tub. Your local Jacuzzi® Dealer can help you work within your price range to determine which options are best for you. Plus, with so many models and amenities to choose from and variations in price by region, the best way to get an accurate price quote is to visit your local dealership.

Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs offer health and wellness benefits, including top-of-the-line hydromassage. Your local dealership can help you find the best hot tub for your lifestyle and budget, so plan a visit today.

4 Foundation Types for Hot Tubs

You’ve made your purchase, and you’re excited to start enjoying your hot tub. Before delivery, don’t forget one very important step: Make sure you have the proper foundation on which to install it. Here are four hot tub foundation ideas that will ensure your hot tub is positioned correctly and looks great.

A concrete surface is an excellent base for your hot tub as this material is extremely sturdy and long-lasting. If you have an existing patio made of concrete bricks, make sure it’s in good condition and is level (not angled for drainage). A customized poured concrete pad is an even better choice. Having a single slab rather than multiple blocks will increase the durability, and you can customize the size and shape to fit your spa’s specific dimensions.

Decks can be an easy choice, as they are already level and solid. Most well-built decks can handle a hot tub, but make sure you have proper supports, as a fully loaded hot tub can weigh more than 4,000 pounds. You should always have an existing deck inspected before your hot tub is installed.

Gravel or Crushed Rock

Gravel is a simple and inexpensive spa base, provided it’s used properly. You’ll need to do some digging to accomplish this foundation. Grass and topsoil should be removed and the ground should be level. You can then add the gravel; pack it down as much as possible and level it. For a more polished look, add patio pavers.

Spa Pad

You can purchase a prefabricated hot tub foundation pad that will rest over a spot in your backyard and keep your spa level. You will still need to clear the area of grass and topsoil, but laying a spa pad is an easy way to get a luxurious-looking base. Check out Jacuzzi® Brand’s high-tech polyethylene spa pad for superior quality.

Everything You Need to Know About Spa Pumps

Are you in the market for a hot tub or spa pump? Pumps are an essential part of your spa, and there is more to them than you might think. Most Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs have two separate pumps, for circulation and jet power, and select models even have up to three jet pumps! These power the jets by pulling water through a filter and then pushing it out the jets in our signature 50/50 air-to-water ratio. Circulation pumps pull water through a separate filtration system, treat it with UV light, heat it up, and push perfectly warmed, crystal-clear water back into the hot tub. Here are some elements you’ll want to consider when shopping for the perfect spa pump.

Jet Power

The horsepower controls the pressure of the water coming out of the jets. The more jets you have, the more horsepower you will need. Keep in mind that higher horsepower doesn’t always mean a better spa; jet placement and design are important to consider. In hot tubs with more than one jet pump, there is a diverter knob that allows you to redirect the jet power to particular seats. Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs use top-of-the-line engineering to create cost-effective systems with flow control and the right amount of jet power for each hot tub model.

Traditional spa pumps are one-speed or two-speed, depending on how many levels of jet power the spa has. If your spa uses the same pump for circulation and jet power, you’ll want a two-speed pump that you can set at a very low level to circulate the water when the tub is not in use. However, many modern tubs have separate circulation pumps to keep the water sparkling. For the newest technology in spa pumps, consider a variable-speed pump, which uses a type of motor similar to that used in hybrid cars. These are typically quieter and produce less heat and vibration, resulting in reduced wear and tear and a longer lifespan.

Energy Use

With growing concern about energy use in all facets of life, Jacuzzi® Brand has been producing a variety of new hot tub features. First-class insulation, LED lights, and expertly engineered jets are just some of our latest design innovations. Programmable circulation pumps filter the water efficiently, and some even reduce energy usage by transferring motor heat to the water. For jet power, variable-speed pumps are a great option for energy savings—because they can be set to any speed, they are more efficient than set one- or two-speed pumps. Check our website for more about energy-saving features on Jacuzzi® Brand spas and hot tubs.

By learning a little about spa pump parts, you’ll be able to buy the best one for your hot tub. Purchase Jacuzzi® Genuine Parts to ensure your pump continues to operate at peak performance and that you don’t void your warranty. Your local dealership can put you in touch with an authorized service technician.

4 Tips to Ensure a Smooth Hot Tub Installation

You’ve chosen your ideal Jacuzzi® Hot Tub and are anticipating its arrival, but are you sure you have everything in order? From researching hot tub installation costs to the rules and regulations of your HOA and county, there’s plenty to navigate before setting up the latest addition to your household. Read through our helpful tips to ensure a smooth setup and a well-functioning spa:

Obtain the Necessary Permits

Work with your dealership to determine whether any permits are required to install your hot tub. Most cities and counties require authorization for exterior electrical circuits and for construction, for example, if you are building a gazebo or an addition to house your hot tub. Check with your HOA, if you’re part of one, as they may require their own permits. They may also have other requirements, such as placing it in a certain location.

Decide on a Foundation

While the dealership will handle all the details of installing your hot tub, choosing the foundation upon which your hot tub will reside is a choice that only you can make. You’ll want a foundation that supports your hot tub, ensures proper drainage when it rains or snows, and, of course, looks good!

If you’re installing your hot tub on an existing deck or patio, make sure that space is strong enough to hold the weight of the hot tub, the water, and the people who will use it. On solid ground, such as in your backyard, the hot tub should be elevated on a 100 percent level foundation. Gravel is an inexpensive material that makes a great base; concrete, while more expensive, will last a long time and does not require much maintenance.

Choose the Perfect Location

Ensure you’ve taken into account the great outdoors and Mother Nature’s whims. Placing the hot tub in the middle of your backyard might be nice in the spring, but in the summer, you and your guests may get too hot without shade. Conversely, during the colder months you’ll probably want to get inside quickly after a dip in your hot tub.  Positioning it near a changing room or door leading inside in wintry areas—or under a patio cover or gazebo in sunny climates—can make a big difference in how you enjoy your spa. Consider adding a walkway and perimeter path to avoid tracking debris from the yard into your hot tub, and remember to leave room for maintenance and entertaining.

Consider the Electrical Requirements

Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs are built to operate at different power and usage levels, so their electrical requirements vary by model. To ensure you enjoy full functionality of your new spa, consult with your dealership. They can help you coordinate with an electrician when you purchase your hot tub so that by installation day, you will be ready to go.

The team at your Jacuzzi® dealership can help you with hot tub installation ideas, from choosing the best setting and foundation to planning the details of your delivery day. A little planning ahead will ensure you enjoy the maximum health and relaxation benefits of your hot tub.

Here’s a handy installation checklist to keep on your fridge when you get closer to the day your new spa arrives.

6 Tips for Buying a Used Hot Tub

While buying a brand-new hot tub is ideal, a well-maintained used model can provide a great alternative that will ease you into ownership. Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a used hot tub that will suit your lifestyle.

1. Determine the Size You’ll Need

A cozy 2-3 person hot tub may sound great for date nights or solo soaking, but if you have a larger family or do a lot of backyard entertaining, you might want to consider something more spacious. Surprisingly, more seats may only equate to a one- to two-foot larger footprint.

2. Establish a Budget (And Don’t Break It)
Know what you can spend, so you are better prepared when researching which styles and options you can afford. This will also help you narrow your focus, so you’re not overwhelmed with search results. To get the best value for your budget, you may need to strike a balance between the features you want and the price point you prefer.

3. Thoroughly Test Your Options
Even if the hot tub looks great on first sight, examine it closely for signs of wear and weathering. Make sure the pumps, lights, seals, and thermostat are all functioning. Check for leaks. Ensure that the unit was stored and covered appropriately. Request a service report from the seller and check it for any major issues that will cost you more time and money in the future. Also, be sure to ask if the spa is under warranty and if that warranty is transferrable.

4. Don’t Buy on Impulse
As much as you want to be in the warm, soothing water immediately, make sure you pick the best option for your lifestyle. Test a few models, and be patient as you consider the benefits of each.

5. Prep for Installation

If you’ve never owned a home spa before, planning for the installation is important and can even be fun. Survey your backyard or home to pick out the ideal spot for a hot tub, measuring to make sure it will fit nicely and has a solid foundation. Check your electrical system to ensure it meets the requirements. Learn more in this pre-installation checklist.

6. Keep It Clean

Finally, once you’ve gotten your choice home, clean it thoroughly and replace all filters if necessary. If you don’t already have one, be sure to purchase a spa cover to protect your investment. Then put on some music, fix yourself a drink, and enjoy that first dip in your brand new (used) hot tub.

Good Value vs. Cheaply Made Hot Tub

How to Tell the Difference

Affordable doesn’t necessarily mean cheap, and you don’t need to break the bank to get a quality hot tub. Here are some questions to ask to find the perfect balance between quality and affordability when shopping for the a great hot tub for your family:

Is it a brand name you trust?

A hot tub is a major purchase for most people. Just as consumers rely on the reputations of well-known automobile manufacturers and appliance makers, it’s smart to consider the brand name on a hot tub. A “cheaply made” hot tub from an unreliable brand can cost you more over the life of the hot tub than a model from a reputable manufacturer such as the Jacuzzi® Brand.

Download a brochure here

Does the hot tub have the features you need?

To determine good value versus a cheaply made tube, weigh the long- and short-term benefits of your needs versus available options and compare them to the costs of each model. Are you looking for a warm oasis to relax with your family? Then a large hot tub may be a better value to you. Or do you have a physical issue that needs some targeted hydrotherapy? Placement of the jets is more important than the quantity of jets. In an area where temperatures tend to top records? A hot tub with durable cabinetry could be your best investment. Be wary of buying a lower cost hot tub at the expense of the features you find most important otherwise you may not get the full value of your purchase.

Does the hot tub have a good warranty?

Hot tubs that are truly “cheap” often lack a comprehensive warranty. Hot tub manufacturers using low-quality materials and methods sometimes won’t offer the assurance of replacement parts and service.

If you’re thinking of buying a no-warranty hot tub, buyer beware. Cheaply made hot tubs can become expensive if they aren’t protected by a solid warranty. Jacuzzi offers comprehensive warranties for up to 10 years on its hot tubs, with a worldwide network of authorized dealers available to back up the warranty provisions.
