The Great Escape started in 1971 as a small, one-man company selling pool supplies door-to-door south of Chicago. Today, over forty years later, our modest one-man business has grown into the largest home leisure retailer in the Midwest.
Over the years, we've remained a family-run business, and that's something we're very proud of. In fact, the same folks who once walked door-to-door in our early years are the same ones who own and operate our Great Escape stores today.

Doug Pearson — Store Manager
Doug Pearson is the Manager at The Great Escape in Wilmette. He's worked for the company for 10 years now. Along with an MBA from Northwestern, he's studied a thing or two about spas, like Jacuzzi Hot Tubs and fitness, so they’re his product specialties. It’s really great to be able to represent the top brand in any category, like Jacuzzi in spas. Not only that, we sell them at the lowest price in the nation and get to hear back from customers how much these products have truly impacted the their quality of life. Fun fact: customers say he looks like Terry Bradshaw. Come on in and tell him what you think of his celebrity doppelganger.
Mickey Simon — Store Manager
Mickey Simon is the Manager at the Wilmette The Great Escape. He is in his 16th year at The Great Escape and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. He says the best part of his job is meeting different people every day and helping them find exactly what they want or need for their situation. When they come back and tell him how well the party went or how happy they are with everything they’ve bought over the years, that is satisfying.
The gentleman at the showroom explained everything to me and how each different hot tub had all these different features so it could really be customized to you and your family. I felt so much more empowered to make the right decision for us and our family.
