The sink can set the tone for the entire bathroom. It's important to consider your style, the space you have to work with, who will be using it and your storage needs.
Who Will Use It?
Is it a family sink? Then you might want to consider an undercounter sink like the Cetra® Undercounter Lavatory that frees up counter space. If you are buying a sink for your master bath, you can choose a sink that expresses your individual style - an above counter vessel perhaps? The materials and design will vary and your costs will vary with it. For a guest bath, why not go with a pedestal sink? They free up visual space and provide an elegant look. And because it is a guest bathroom, the lack of storage space won't be as much of an issue. Console sinks provide the same elegant look as a pedestal sink but allow for some storage.
Measure Your Space
Small spaces dictate pedestal or wall-mounted sinks. Larger spaces provide more options such as a double-sink vanity or unique sized vessels. Check the exact dimensions of the location for the new sink. Will your new sink fit into an existing cutout or will you need to do some extra work to make it fit?
Comfort
No two people are alike. That's why Jacuzzi developed PerfectHeight™ - sinks elevated to create a comfortable, chair-like seated position and sinks slightly raised so you don't have to bend down.
Storage Requirements
If your bathroom doesn't have any storage built-in a cabinet with sink mounted on top serves a dual purpose. Cabinets can be very basic or can look like an expensive piece of furniture.
Materials
Porcelain is the most common bathroom sink material. It is light and less expensive than most other options. Cast iron sinks can be coated in enamel in any color and are very durable - but are heavy and more expensive. If price is not as much of an issue, sink made of other materials such as glass, stone, metal or wood are offered in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes.
Faucets
Faucets come in all shapes & styles. Consider the size and style of your sink when looking at faucets. A whimsical sink and a traditional faucet will seem out of place. Finally, make sure the sink has the correct hole punchings for your faucets and handles, usually 4" or 8" from the center.
