Dear Divas,

How do I go about creating the look of a spa resort in my own bathroom? Do I need to do a remodel of my entire bathroom?Relaxing in California

Della:
You don't have to go through a remodel to have that salon spa look. Sometimes all it takes is replacing some of your existing items in your bathroom. Repainting the walls with warm colors can result in a dramatic feel of your bathroom space. Or adding accents or accessories can make a big difference visually from a plain bathroom to a salon spa style bathroom.

Tracy:
If you have room, you could put up a small shelf - even an antique one. Then you can change your smaller art pieces when the spirit moves you.

Tracy:
For fabrics colors select soft white materials for your towels and floor rugs. Sand and stone colors works well for additional elements, like candle holders or soap dishes. For shower curtains, use one with a decorative design that has a separate liner. Its all about the psychology of aesthetics to transforms the look of your bathroom. If you do a remodel, a whirlpool bath would be the starting and focal point of your spa resort style bathroom redesign.

Dear Divas,

I have a very large bathroom and I wanted to get some ideas on minimizing echo or noises outside.Peace and Quiet in Arizona

Tracy:
If your planning on remodeling the bathroom, add insulation to the walls, celing and floors to keep noises from the outside at a minimum. When choosing your surfaces, remember that ceramic and marble tiled walls and floors echo.

Della:
If you already have ceramic or marble floors and walls, fabrics will help minimize sound. Lots of towels, washable rugs help to absorb sound. You can also add in the luxury of a built-in television, designed for bathroom installations, so that the screen will not fog. Don't forget that waterproof remote control.
