Jacuzzi Continues To Lavish Home Bath With Luxury Spa Designs

(CHICAGO, IL -- APRIL, 2006) -- Jacuzzi Bath is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to luxury in the bathroom, so it is giving equal attention to showers as it is to baths in its lineup of new products at the 2006 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. The array of newcomers will be on view in the company's Booth #4057 at McCormick Place Convention Center.

"The truth is, we're in the business of selling a home spa luxury experience," said Phil Weeks, president of Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath. "It began over 40 years ago when we developed the world's first whirlpool tub and triggered a revolution, redefining the bathroom beyond functional and utilitarian. We opened the door to a new era, creating bathrooms that are at-home getaways for refreshing the body and soul. Our sales team now has a full range of hydro-massage products and accessories that can furnish the bath top to bottom so that it is state-of-the art, sensuous and sensational."

Characterizing this newest group of shower additions, according to Weeks, is how easily and almost instantly they can transform and customize existing bathrooms with the requisite body sprays that work their therapeutic wonders.

"This is luxury you can have in a snap but minus the expense and mess of extensive and additional plumbing," he said. "It's irresistible."

Topping the entries is the Jacuzzi Semi-Custom Luxury Shower System by Oben. This is a design solution for any household that wants to upgrade to create a dream shower without spending a fortune. Uniquely, the body sprays and technology are integrated in the architecture of the enclosure itself. The "threshold" that forms the lip between the interior shower pan and the room is pre-plumbed and easily connects to new or existing water supply lines. The metal frames cleverly multi-task: In addition to structurally supporting the glass walls and door of the shower, they each feature two self-cleaning body spray jet nozzles that can be adjusted with variable flow controls. The system is easy to install and the homeowner can cover the threshold with tile or other surface material matching the flooring of the space. In addition to a spacious round corner unit, other options include a curved single door, curved offset door or flat offset door style in popular sizes. In introducing this system Jacuzzi has teamed with Oben, known for its innovative engineering in bathroom showers and enclosures.

Also being introduced is the Jacuzzi Pre-Assembled Luxury Body Spray System. Ease of installation is its winning trait; its pre-assembled composition of body sprays and the corresponding behind-the-wall water line connections eliminate any guesswork on how to create the ultimate luxury shower. The system is available with a thermostatic mixing valve and diverter already integrated for main wall applications or simply as a pre-plumbed array of body sprays for sidewalls. Choose between four- or six-spray configurations, or combine them yielding the most hedonistic option of all with 12 power sprays! The system fits with a standard 16-inch center-to-center framing and utilizes PEX piping for top performance and longevity. Three-way diverter models allow for a showerhead and hand-held shower to be added to the system, or, instead, connect the body spray system to Jacuzzi's new Semi Custom Luxury Shower System by Oben for a full 360° shower experience.

Far and away, the new Summer Rain shower tower by Jacuzzi is an incomparable design. An acknowledged breakthrough when the complete two-person shower system was introduced a year ago, this year the sleek, contemporary column housing all of the technology and controls has been liberated and is available in an option that now can be freely wall-mounted or integrated into a custom design, offering untold flexibility. The column can be specified in a finish of white, satin, chrome or polished chrome.

And, here's a smart way to easily convert a shower into a custom steam bath where you can sit down, relax and unwind: The Jacuzzi Sedona Steam Seat. It features a SteamPro generator built in to the pre-assembled fiberglass box seat. You just install and cover it with the tile or surface material that matches the rest of the shower. It's the all-in-one-answer to adding a steam shower.

Bettering the Bathing Experience

Jacuzzi has avowed to do its share in helping satisfy homeowners' desires to create bathrooms with more spa-like personalities. In a sweeping move at the start of this year, the company raised The Luxury Collection, its high-end series of products, to an even loftier status. Most models in this group, such as the Allusion, which is a standout with its distinctive modernist styling, now are available in three variations: A whirlpool bath, a PureAir bath, or - for those seeking the fullest bravado - the Salon spa which combines the whirlpool and air experiences. So many other features and details are automatic "givens" that these Luxury Collection designs are a win-win proposition regardless which bath option you favor. The Luxury whirlpool line now features many upgrades as standards including 256-color Chromatherapy ambient lighting system, multi-speed motor, WavePulse system, Rapid-Heat in-line heater, and a handy electronic touch pad control panel for convenient operation. In short, what Jacuzzi has done is given the world better bathing - taken the tub from a mundane plumbing fixture to a 21st century smart appliance.

Jacuzzi also been attentive to its more moderately-priced Comfort Collection. Within this group it has expanded both its Whirlpool Plus and PureAir bath lines. The Plus is a series of upgrades representing a step up from classic Jacuzzi whirlpool selections. Among this extensive line is Gallery, a design that is unpretentious and classic. It is a classic oval (five or six-foot) and at home in any decor. For those whose preference is a vigorous hydro-massage, Gallery Plus features four fully adjustable TheraPro jets, plus directionally adjustable AccuPro jets. It also includes a Rapid-Heat in-line heater that helps maintain the water temperature so it remains comfortably warm. Chromatherapy adds to the calming and reflecting qualities of this experience. The PureAir option - for those who favor a gentler, more relaxing type of experience - reflects Jacuzzi's mastery of the technology. It includes the exclusive 360° Balanced Airflow System, a 600 watt variable speed heated air blower, Thermal Lumbar Comfort, and a timed purge cycle which assures a fully drained system. Gallery also is available in a corner configuration.

Other Additions...

Jacuzzi has been unabashedly aggressive in maintaining ownership of the home spa market, and, according to Weeks, it is looking outside the norm of baths and showers at amenities and other products that can help to complete the experience and contribute to the luxury and ambience.

Lift-It, for instance, an aluminum frame elevation system for plasma and flat screen TVs, is among the Jacuzzi lineup. At the push of a button, Lift-It smoothly raises the TV from a cabinet to a comfortable viewing level. When not in use, it can be lowered and automatically tucked away into its storage unit. Initially, two models are being offered: The Crest, for most 42" screens, and The Horizon, which accommodates most 27" sizes. Both feature cable management systems and are wired for remote control operation.

Also added this year and on view at K/BIS is an electric Radiant Floor Heating Mat system. Pervasive throughout European homes and other overseas construction, a radiant floor is a savvy and luxurious solution to heating. It is unobtrusive, discreetly sandwiched under the floor's surface eliminating the need for unsightly, space-reducing radiators or heating units. Plus, the experience of a warm floor underfoot at the flick of a switch is the optimum feel-good treat.
